Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is for teachers that are already working in their respective areas. They may have a Post Graduate Certificate of Education or other teaching qualifications and wish to upskill/enhance their current teaching practices.
What does this qualification cover?
This qualification ensures that trainees will develop knowledge and understanding of a relevant range of theoretical approaches, teaching techniques and skills, in line with evidence-based best practice across the sector relevant to their subject. Trainees will learn and use the most effective approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. Trainees will also learn the principles and practice of effective curriculum design, including the selection and sequencing of curriculum content, especially in relation to their subject specialism

This qualification will lead to developing insights into teaching practices and provide a good foundation for teaching at College, University and International students.
Teaching can be delivered at a range of levels including essential skills generally up to Level 3 including, academic, vocational and technical education. Some teachers may deliver subjects up to post-graduate level; it will also cover a broad range of both academic and technical subject/sector areas. Many Learning and Skills Teachers are dual professionals drawing on their technical and vocational as well as academic experience and qualifications to provide a high-quality learning experience.
