Description

Who is this qualification for?

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies is an access course to further advanced therapy qualifications. This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16 and over, wishing to progress onto advanced level 4 aesthetic programs but who presently do not hold recognised level 2 and 3 beauty therapy qualifications.

What does this qualification cover?

This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for relevant principles of beauty therapy and includes all the required elements to achieve a measurable and comparable qualification, which will facilitate further and additional study at levels 4 and above. Learners must achieve all mandatory units which include:

– Health and safety
– Facial therapy
– Consultation and client care
– Anatomy, physiology and pathology

Learners have the option to elect to take an additional optional unit:

– Electrical therapies

Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to level 2 and 3 therapies. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients and analyse their skin to help facilitate the provision of facial therapies. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, all of which are valued highly by employers.

Why is this qualification the most suitable?

This qualification offers the most direct route for learners lacking the traditional beauty pre-requisites to progress directly to level 4 therapies and above.

What could this qualification lead to?

The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for additional and further study at levels 4 or above in aesthetic therapy techniques. Learners who choose this qualification are doing so in order to gain access to any of the specialist qualifications at level 4 or above in one or more of the following areas:

– Skin peeling
– Skin needling
– Ultrasound
– Radio frequency
– Advanced blemish removal
– Micropigmentation
– Laser and IPL qualifications
– Tattoo removal
