ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Teaching
(Further Education & Skills)
The ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) provides a
nationally recognised qualification for individuals currently working in, or intending to
work in, teaching and training roles within the Further Education and Skills sector in
England. The qualification has been developed in line with the Department for
Education (DfE) Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) qualification
framework and reflects the requirements of the Learning and Skills Teacher
occupational standard.
The qualification is designed to support the development of knowledgeable,
reflective and professionally competent teachers who are able to plan, deliver and
assess inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning across a wide range of Further
Education and Skills contexts, including Further Education colleges, independent
training providers, adult and community learning, offender learning, work-based
learning and the third sector.
The qualification combines professional knowledge, subject-specialist pedagogy
and extensive teaching practice to ensure candidates develop the skills, behaviours
and professional understanding required to meet the occupational standards for
teachers in the Further Education and Skills sector. The qualification also promotes
the effective use of digital and online pedagogies, evidence-informed practice,
equality, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and the embedding of English and
mathematics within teaching and learning.
